MSI B350 Tomahawk Gaming Motherboard Review

Manufacturer: MSI

Actually, I have noticed the ongoing trend of vendors releasing affordable gaming motherboards packed with lots of features. So I decided to grab my hands on this MSI B350 Tomahawk motherboard. The price is quite affordable for a ‘gaming’ motherboard which is around $150USD from where I stay (Malaysia). The reason why I chose AMD is also because of the launch of Ryzen. Just my personal opinion but AMD processors are actually pretty good in terms of reliability and offer more value for money compared to Intel. I mean, what are the chances of you having a failed CPU (unless you overclocks or overheat it). So choose a brand which offers more at a better price.

Also, why MSI? Actually MSI has been on the rise in recent years when it comes to offering gaming products with great features. They are just synonymous with gaming these days. So, you won’t go wrong choosing this brand. It comes with 3years manufacturer warranty as well.

Upclose and features
Since I’m an audiophile, what I like most about this motherboard is the fact that it has Golden plated audio jacks. The PCI-E has this ‘steel’ which provides extra protection from bending VGA cards. That’s something important to consider since my card is quite heavy having 3 fan blades. Another thing to note is the plated gaming heatsink. They look superb! You could probably tell from the picture below. This motherboard is quite intelligent as well packed with many sensors. Initially, I was having problems booting up the PC. The red LED lights are shown beside the power plug indicating GPU/RAM/CPU had issues. After I swap the slots for the RAM and re-assemble the GPU, the lights disappeared.

This motherboard is a value for money gaming motherboard. It’s priced at the mid-range level and packed with all the features you would need to run a great set-up. So far I have been using this motherboard for about 4 months. I can say the experience is superb and reliable.
